These nuns are working on the framing of the roof, and you can see the center beam with post supports under it. The first roof rafter is in place and notches are being made in the top of the exterior walls for the rest of the log rafters. The nuns in the foreground are preparing the log rafters by stripping them of bark. The rafters will be covered with strips and brush and finally mud, as was done with the roof of the retreat center. |
